- Growing young family
A Chorlton family of four had outgrown their galley kitchen. They wanted a proper open-plan kitchen-diner that connected to the garden — without losing the character of their Victorian terrace.
The existing kitchen sat inside a narrow rear outrigger, next to a crumbling original flank wall. The family wanted to live in the house throughout. And the party-wall neighbour ran a home business.
One Sky project manager ran the whole job end-to-end — structural engineer, party-wall surveyor, demolition, foundations, steels, all trades and finishes. We phased the works so the family kept a functioning temporary kitchen in the front reception for seven weeks. Original Victorian cornicing in the adjoining room was protected and retained throughout.
- Delivered on a fixed price with no variations
- Completed 6 days ahead of programme
- Neighbour's home office undisturbed — two homemade cakes received
- Family referred two other Chorlton jobs the same quarter
